About the artist

Welcome!

I am Audrey, a native San Franciscan and former dental hygienist. I fell in love with wool felt while looking for the right fabric to make a bag I wanted to make for myself.

This luxurious natural fabric is a joy to work with because it leaves a clean edge when cut and has a textural quality that is both elegant and comfortable (and I don't need to hem the edges!).

Working with wool felt is truly addicting. I recently retired from my day job so I can dedicate myself to my passion of designing and making beautiful, modern and functional bags using colorful felt and Italian leather.

The urge to make one bag in one color evolved over time into the collection you see in this website. I design and make every bag, satchel, tote and accessory in my San Francisco studio. This is truly slow fashion combined with my drive to perfect my craft.

Some of my favorites include: biking around my fabulous City, polka dots, soft serve ice cream, and shoes.

Thanks for visiting!

Utilitarian, Bold-colored Style

Years of experimentation, and an accidental discovery as a purse-toting spectator at the 2008 American Craft Council show led to a career for designer Audrey Jung. The original bags were designed for one special client, Audrey herself. As RuPaul would say, “if you can't please yourself, how are you going to please someone else?”.

Colors include three shades of grey, rich browns, olive greens, azure blue and red reminiscent of Japanese maple leaves. Brilliant-colored zippers provide a visual pop to fuse fun with fashion. Each style comes in several sizes appropriate to many uses and ages.

When asked if her palette derives from nature, she admitted they also hide dirt. Imminent practicality drove the choice of material as well. Industrial felt, unlike prototypes in canvas or upholstery, can be cut into clean lines and can take as much punishment as the wearer.

A trip to Japan where children sport square book bags, inspired her signature design, the City Backpack. The geometry of other bags evokes origami and modern architecture. Simple, sleek, close to the body fit lends gender-neutral appeal. Timeless style and ultimate utility, one woman's needs have met the needs of the many.
